But despite their extraordinary popularity, many of us find buying jeans a hellish experience.
So here are 10 tips that can help people of all sizes when getting a new pair of Jeans
1. Do not wear jeans with back pockets if your butt is on the small size,it only makes them look smaller! A jean without pockets, zips or any form of embellishments at the back creates an illusion that you're endowned in that area.
2. The importance of comfort can't be over stressed. When picking out a "skinny jean" there is a thin line between skinny and the sausage skin effect caused from wearing too tight jeans . Do not buy a jean that would entail you laying on your back to put on. If you can't wear it while standing straight, then try another pair.
3. For woman with larger hips, picking out a pair of jean can be a bit daunting in today's size zero world. Go for jeans that have lycre as they can stretch around your curves which would give you a well defined and firm look! Boot cut jeans would also give you a flattering look
4. The high waisted jean is not for everybody particularly if you are conscious of your tummy. A high waisted jean would create an unpleasant look in the lower part of your body. A high rise jean is best for people with big tummy, the waistline should sit below the belly button which helps conceal your tummy
5. Taller women should avoid wearing a boot cut /ankle lenght jean, this just creates an awful impression that you left a piece of the fabric at the shop where you bought the jean! If don't want a full lenght jean, a pair of three- quarter jean will best suit the purpose.
6. Colourful jeans are trendy, but be careful to pick a colour that suits your body type. Slimer ladies can get away with wearing all the bright colours such as orange, pink, green, yellow and so on. However, avoid dark colours such as grey, black, brown and navy blue as these colours create stilhouettes and can make you look "stick- thin". These colours can however look good on bigger women who should do their best to avoid the brighter colour(except you're trying to get noticed from Mars)
7. To avoid gaping in jean particularly in women with small waistline and large hips, go for jeans that are proportionate to your waist and hips
8. Avoid looking like a robot by wearing only one article of denim at a time .
Play with wearing denim/jean with other kinds of fabrics. You could pair a denim jacket on a corduroy pants or skirts or jean with chinos jacket.
9. Buttons, zips, chains, leather straps and other forms of embellishment all help to make jean unique and fun to wear but be cautious to ensure they suit your personality and are not over-the-top.
10. Remember that when picking out a jean to hide that flaw in your body, its about creating an optical illusion that your body is perfect.
Finally,if you find a pair you love and suits your body size, go out and buy three pairs - you'll be rocking them for a while!
