An immigration source said two of them were accused of drug related offences; others were deported for immigration offences.
About 92 Nigerians have been deported by the British Government. They arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, yesterday.
Some of the deportees insisted that their traveling documents were intact.
A female deportee said: “I will continue to demand from the British authority, why I was deported. My documents are intact. It is their new law that Nigerians should be repatriated. I have everything; cars, a good job, etc. Even people that have children in London were repatriated.”
A male deportee said: “The British Government is bad and very conservative, they don’t like Nigerians. We were deported, irrespective of the fact that most of us have our documents.”
How conceivable is it for an authority with supposed accountability to conduct such an act where they will indeed deport a person with authentic documentation of their legitimate proof of residency? If that is indeed the case, then the two persons who are quoted here do have recourse and should pursue it relentlessly.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the UK Govt are finally waking up to the fact that we are an island and cannot continue to support the hundreds of thousands who flock here seeking work or handouts from the uk taxpayer. Our own citizens cannot find work, there are not enough houses and there are too many cars on our road. I have to be honest, my experience of Nigerians is that the majority are corrupt, falsify every document they can and lie and cheat all the time. Where I live employers wont touch them due to the bad reputation they have given themselves. Keep deporting I say.
ReplyDeleteNo one really knows what led to the deportation of the people deported.....
ReplyDeleteFirstly those people might have been deported before the biometrics was introduced, and if u have been deported before and re-entered and then get ur papers in another name, forgetting if u get caught again u are said to have double identity, then u have acquired the legal papers deceptively so u r liable for deportationbecause u have breached the law
