The next President shall come from the Greater South East –2011 - 2019. The far North is not ready to rule Nigeria until 2035.
“The North is also holding the country hostage. You have been in the presidency for 35 years out of 50 years of the country’s independence. What is the balance? Is it not 15 years?
You have been president for 35 years but you still have appetite for another four years and you are telling the president who has never tested the presidency not to have appetite! Can you imagine the incongruity in the argument? If occupation of the presidency gives advantage, what more advantage do you need after having it for 35 years? If occupying the presidency brings development, where is the development in the North to credit the 35 years that the North has occupied that office? We have to ask this question. It appears the North has held the nation hostage than what we are going through. If there is any region that should be patient and concessionary then it is the North.” (Jonathan Zwingina - Vanguard 19-09-10.)
The much talk about the PDP retaining the President of the country in North come 2011 is a political gibe. The North is not yet ready to rule Nigeria in these normal and democratic times for the good of the country. The PDP internal party President rotational policy is not Nigeria policy. The party even abandoned the zoning by it past conduct of accepting candidates for nomination in all parts of the country.
As at date, the North has ruled Nigeria for 37.5 years since 50 years of her independence October 1960. The far North rules for 20.5 years and Middle Belt 17 years. But the South West has only ruled for 11 years, South East for .5 year and South South about 1 year. What has Nigeria got from this northern period, all but nothing, instability in every area, disorganisation and backwardness?
In a country where there is fair play, the leadership was due to come from the Greater South East (South East and South South zones) of the country in 2007. Looking at this imbalance, come 2011, it is the turn of the Greater South East to bring about the leadership of the country for the next 8 years.
But the PDP can field its Presidential candidate from the North or anywhere. What is certain is that the PDP will not win the 2011 Presidential election, whoever is its candidate. There will not be any election for the party to rig as in the previous elections that enabled it to win illegally. Even if some other major political parties field their candidates from the North they will not win.
The salvation of the country now rest on the Greater South East (South East and South South). Come 2011, the right candidate of any other political party from this area will win the Presidential election. The positive thinking and forward looking majority of Nigerians’ electorate that are out there in both the North and the South will vote for the right candidate of the Greater South East en masse.
During this 8 years tenure of the Greater South East from 2011 official rotational leadership, other necessary and sustainable reformation will be in place in the country. Nigeria will hence stand on a solid foundation which any bad ruler or region will not be able to sideline for his personal or regional inclinations, disorganise or able to set the country backward any more.
It is for all the past and present happenings that nobody needs to say that the PDP or the North is not ready to rule Nigeria in these normal and democratic times. The North needs the time to mature, learn and nurture its future right, useful leaders, those that would know how to obey and follow the laws of the land to the letter and do not put their region before Nigeria. Such are not available in the region now. They may be available in the future, about 8 years’ time, when it will be the turn of the North to take the leadership of the country, during these normal and democratic times.
Thirty seven and half years was a good time for the North to make good, fruitful and lay a formidable foundation for the country to stand on the path of stability, advancement and put even its region on everlasting progressive path. But these were not.
If the Greater South East and South West are to equal the 37.5 years of the North and Middle Belt rule before leadership can go to the North and Middle Belt, the Greater South East needs to rule the country for the next 20 years. Then the South West will be the next after this to rule the country for another 8 years before the North or Middle Belt can smell the leadership.
Does the North want this? The answer is presumably NO. Therefore, the North must keep clear of Nigeria leadership for the next 8 years for the Greater South East to rule Nigeria and put up a formidable foundation, structure and official leadership rotational policy.
There are no more capable hands to rule Nigeria effectively today than from the Greater South East. Therefore, every person from the Greater South East (South East and South South zones) who is capable, with leadership qualities and honesty trail, particularly if you are an Accountant or an Economist, should seek nomination in his/her political party to contest the 2011 President of the country. The leadership of the country should not be left to those that have nothing tangible to offer the country let alone move her forward.
As the PDP will not be able to rig election again, as the PDP is not electable no matter who is its Presidential candidate, a genuine Progressive party who actually wants the Presidency should nominate its candidate from the Greater South East (South East and South South zones) especially a candidate who is either an Accountant or an Economist.
The ability to expand and grow the economy, generate money, prudent use of the money, control, safeguard and saving of Nigeria money are the skills the next President of Nigeria must have if the country is to survive and move forward. The Accountant or the Economist has these. You cannot delegate these skills. The Greater South East (South East and South South zones) where the President of the country is due has these tested skills in abundance.
What we need is official leadership rotation. It will be introduced during the 2011 Government term of office. As above, the country has been ruled for the past 50years as follow, North 20.5, Middle Belt 17, South West 11, Greater South East 1.5, Total 50years.
Official leadership rotation will be in place from 2011 as follow:
The Greater South East 2011-2019.
Middle Belt 2019-2027.
South West 2027-2035.
North 2035-2043.
Hence election will be free and fair. No incumbent will again be able to rig and sit tight on the Presidency and award it to another zone or an individual. There is no Presidency for the far North until 2035 when official rotational policy will be in place for the region’s turn.
So Atiku has got further chance to spend more bribery and looted public money till the end of the PDP primary where Jonathan will certainly floor him and before his inevitable incarceration.
