Six people killed in Benin City, following a cult war.
Aiye fraternity and Black Axe have been engaged in an age-long supremacy battle, which has left over 30 dead and several others injured in the past three years.
Nosa Ebohon, an engineering graduate of the University of Benin who was popularly known as 'Biggie A.K.A JUJU of UNIBEN', was among those reportedly killed along Adolor College Road.
He was said to have been invited by an unknown person to a beer parlour. On arrival there, two armed youths shot him in the chest.
Sources have, however, attributed the renewed gang war in the state to fallout occasioned by the 'sharing formula' of largesse from politicians in the just concluded governorship election in the state.

Could Timothy’s claim of being medically cured of HIV/AIDS be a breakthrough?
Known as "the Berlin Patient", Timothy says, he has no trace of the HIV in his blood as confirmed by his medical Doctor, Dr Gero Hutter.
Briefing the media here in Washington as part of the ongoing 2012 World Conference, Mr Brown said the blood stem cell transplant he had in 2007 to treat leukemia, using a donor with a rare gene mutation had provided natural resistance to HIV.
"I have been off anti-retroviral now for five years, and I am doing well. I have no virus in my blood again. I am cured of the disease forever, I am HIV negative and I am free forever", he said.
Mr Brown's case seems to be a landmark medical advancement that researchers say could pave the way for future treatment of the insidious disease for its 34 million sufferers worldwide.
Mr Brown said he tested positive in 1995 and was put on the lifetime pills, antiretroviral drugs but his health deteriorated in 2006.
"I was referred to an oncologist who discovered that I had an acute myeloid leukemia and was put on chemotherapy".
While the first round of treatment appeared to work, it also made him more susceptible to infections. Brown developed pneumonia early on in his treatment, and he battled sepsis halfway through his third round of chemo. His doctors realized they would have to try a different approach.
He explained that Dr Hutter knew of a research that concluded that the CCR5 Receptor allowed the HIV virus to attach to the T-Cell and subsequently infect the cell spreading the disease whilst people without CCR5 appeared resistant to HIV infections
Mr Brown said he had his HIV susceptible immune system replaced with an HIV resistant line of stem cells, which had his HIV cleared.
He noted that his leukemia was in remission but astoundingly there was no detectable HIV in my system adding, "My T-cell counts increased and five years after here I am well and free of HIV".
Mr Brown announced that he would be starting a foundation, the Timothy Ray Brown Foundation, in conjunction with the World AIDS Institute to be dedicated solely to finding a cure for HIV.
He urged leaders and other members of the scientific community to focus more funding and efforts specifically toward finding a cure.
He hoped his treatment will become a common procedure to cure other people of HIV, "Treatment is expensive but my experience has shown that a cure is possible"

Nigeria: Seun Kuti, British Police in Face Off, As Felabration Comes to Town...
Due to late scheduling and no fault of his own, the renowned saxophonist who was the headline act got on stage an hour later than expected but was determined to fulfill his hour long set to his fans.
From the minute his performances started and the adoring fans couldn't help but get on their feet dancing to the songs, the security guards at the theatre were quick to move in asking the fans to sit down and remain seated .
Noticing what was going on, Seun Kuti spoke up reiterating his reasons for being on stage was to please his fans asking the audience to get up on their feet and rock on. This led to a rapturous applause from the entire auditorium leaping to their feet with joy.
Once this happened, the security guards moved in and Seun Kuti stopped the music saying "I am here to make my fans dance, if they are not going to be allowed to do this then I will not perform". Instantly one security guard jumped on stage to ask that Seun Kuti stopped performing and the show was cut short.

ML Reveal: Google unveils ultrafast Internet-TV
The Web search leader unveiled its ultra-high speed Google Fiber service in Kansas City, Missouri, and could start installations in September, executives said. Google hopes to roll out the service to other cities later.
"Access is the next frontier that needs to be opened," Google Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette said. "We're going to do it profitably. That is our plan."
"We are at a crossroad," he added, noting that Internet speeds had leveled out for broadband since around 2000. "We at Google we believe there is no need to wait."
Google Fiber's ultra high-speed connections and television offerings are aimed at surpassing those of current providers, allowing users to search live channels, Netflix, YouTube, recorded shows and tens of thousands of hours of on-demand programming. However, no phone service is available.
"The phone is really a 1940s thing. Why have a landline? It's sitting there, you use it once every two weeks," Pichette said.
Google said it also intends to roll out product packages for businesses, but would not provide details.
Google Fiber includes more than 100 networks and costs $120 a month for a package of TV, 1 gigabyte per second Internet speeds and 1 terabyte of cloud storage.
The package includes popular networks owned by major media companies such as Comcast Corp's NBC Universal, Discovery Communications and Viacom Inc. Premium movie networks are available from Liberty Media's Starz for an extra fee.
But it excludes several major TV names, such as News Corp's Fox cable channels; Time Warner networks like CNN, TNT and TBS, as well as Walt Disney Co cable channels like ESPN and Disney children networks.
Google executives said the company is still in negotiations to add more content.
"They need to be able to offer something that is everything people have now and more," said Ben Schachter, an analyst with Macquarie Research.
"People are going to have high expectations for this. The worst thing they can do is come out and disappoint."
Google is also offering an Internet-only package priced at $70 a month. The download speeds would be around 1 gigabyte a second, according to Google executives.
Google is charging a $300 installation fee, saying consumers should treat it as a "home improvement" cost.
The initial service area includes central Kansas City, Missouri and all of the city of neighboring Kansas City, Kansas.
This market is dominated by Time Warner Cable Inc, which charges $99.95 for its fastest Internet-only service there. Google Fiber would be 20 times faster.
Time Warner spokesman Justin Venech said the second largest U.S. cable operator had a "robust and adaptable network" and welcomed the competition.
FEATURES AND FREEBIE
-----------------------------------------
Google Fiber includes such features as the ability to record eight TV shows at a time and store up to 500 hours of high definition programming. Users can choose to use a tablet or smartphone as a voice-activated remote control.
Google is offering its Nexus 7 tablet with the Google TV app to early users of the service.
Google said it is setting up a 6-week "rally" for consumers to vote on where the first fiber communities, or "fiberhoods," should be installed in the Kansas City area.
Consumers must pay $10 to register their household online for service. About 50 "neighbors" will need to register in order for their area to be eligible for installation services, according to Google executives.
Whether or not consumers will embrace the new offerings remains to be seen. But officials said they are confident Kansas City will be a showcase of success for a larger rollout.
"Google is a very different company," said Kevin Lo, general manager of Google Access. "And this is not a short-term project."

(DJ Bentley’s JockeyTalk) CHRONICLING THE NORMS OF AN AVERAGE NIGERIAN DISC JOCKEY
Asked about who an average Nigerian disc jockey is? Then one is desirous to draw a quaint image of a young Nigerian bloke who finds himself behind his Jockey rig, holding up hours of uninterrupted music from Nigeria, Africa and across the globe.
Well, that's what is habitually seen and expected off an average Nigerian DJ. But in actual fact, the rev of a top-notch disc jockey besides financial booties is actually one of many reasons why blokes took up this line of work. After believing this so much as a fact, I went pondering profusely on why it has turn out to be ludicrously hard for DJ's to earn tangible bites of respect from a society that finds its groove from them?
in the light of this, I sought to briefly evaluate the norms of an average Nigerian Disc jockey in the 3 basic categories in which I personally place a Jockey, these categories includes the Radio DJ category, the Club DJ category and lastly the Freelance DJ category.
THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN RADIO DJ.
Note the word average, he's not top-notch; he's just there lurking, he thinks of himself so high and makes a diva out of his indisposition. At the sight of an upcoming artist he transforms into the biblical Moses who is destined to take the artist and his promo CD into the promise land; but unlike Moses, that promise land has a fee.
Still trotting on his façade and because he is average and he takes incentives as a non-moratorium to playing your song. He however doesn't have a PLAY-list; what he has is a PAID-list. On such PAID-list are songs that'll make him and his career sound average in the heads of the people, and as we all know today this is how some untenable songs make it to our airwave day-in-day-out.
In my very brief stint as radio jockey, I was jumbled about why a DJ colleague would devote about 30 minutes of his radio time overzealously playing musical skits of him? I also wondered why he'll play his hypes/skits on every passing track in his mix. You see brethren's; this is a hallmarks of an average Nigerian radio DJ, every good DJ who knows his onus would not force is name/moniker on his audience instead his good works will make his name what they want to hear. If you are conversant with the Nigerian airwave you'll realize this is a major blunder perpetrated by so many Nigerian radio DJs.
Having listened to a few top-notch radio DJs; and also confirming by every bite of fact that they have never been allied with the above conundrum, I beg to bring to fore the idea of making funny, uncorrelated screechy sounds in the name of what could be addressed as SCRATCH in DJ artistry.
The average Nigerian radio DJ attempts his scratches wrongfully, awfully and repeatedly non-simulating until it is regarded as noise and sorry to say, about 80 percent of DJ's rocking the Nigerian airwave are incredibly unbearable when it comes to scratching except for an incomparable few in the likes of DJ Humility, DJ Midas, DJ Snoop, DJ Xchris and DJ Tommy who have in the past and present shown exemplary dexterity of the Jockey-art. Respect to DJ Snoop tha Damaja who has made scratching on radio fun all over again.
THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN CLUB DJ
In 2009, Guinness was celebrating its globally acclaimed 250 years anniversary in Lagos. I was then with the syndicated Hype-Nigeria team and by stint of luck; I was able to land a deal with the Lagos unit of Richardson & Briggs, Diageo's global PR agency. This deal was straightforward, Guinness simply wanted Sean Paul's promotional single at that time "So fine" to be a constant play in every club that opened for business in Lagos, and I suspected that they wanted it to seem to Nigerians that Sean Paul was the best thing happening at the moment since he was the one every club was bumping. This rendezvous for me was an eye opener, as it took me to everywhere and anywhere that was a club in Lagos.
At Bacchus, Caliente, Red, Cubes Café, Michaels, Unique and a host of others, one grim image was uncharacteristic and this was the fact that most of the DJ's in these clubs played recorded mixes on their night shifts. Behold, this is the biggest crime a DJ can ever commit in the line of his duty and this is the grind of an average Nigerian club DJ.
Being a DJ myself and coupled with the fact that Guinness provided brown envelops for the promotional purpose, I was privy to hang-out in the cubicles of these DJ's only for me to discover this noxious practice of blasting pre-recorded mixes holding leap.
The brown envelop as a matter of fact is not a thing of surprise in Nigeria, and even without a brown envelop Sean Paul was a big name especially in clubs and at that time "So fine" was already a big song. But just like the average radio DJ; an average club DJ receives kickbacks from local artists to compromise his PLAY-List into a PAID-List, so the idea of the brown envelop made many of these club DJ's run into a wild frenzy. However, a couple of club DJ stood out; respect to DJ Benny of Auto-Lounge and DJ Frank of Soul-Lounge.
As we approached; DJ Benny most especially, vehemently retorted the idea of giving him a brown envelop not even when we made it clear to him that it wasn't a bribe but it was only a way Guinness was trying to identify with DJ's for their work in keeping the clubs jamming while Guinness products sold in the last 250 years, he stood his ground and likewise frank. The week that followed, we went round the clubs to do an assessment of "so fine" at many of these clubs most of the DJ's expected a follow-up envelop but at auto-lounge DJ Benny was out of the country in faraway United Kingdom but gave strict orders that "so fine" gets played once in every hour, lo and behold so fine was inadvertently the song on cue when we got to Auto-Lounge on our assessment tour.
These are a sneak peep into the lives of an average club DJ in Nigeria and basically these are some of the factor that makes and keep him average.
THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN FREELANCE DJ
There are so many things a DJ should be and should not be. Have you ever seen Freshprince and DJ Jazzy-Jeff on tour or DJ Green-lantern live on stage? If you have, then it's obvious you understand who a DJ is and how he must be seen when doing his freelance shows.
Foremost of the many errors of an average Nigerian freelance DJ is his choice of moniker. How on earth would I have a party and on my invitation a certain DJ Pussy or DJ Barcelona is billed for the event, such names will do no two harm than to make your event seem razz and create a furor of non-seriousness.
In some cases, there are some DJ's with a good moniker but the bane is that he can't even address his client least to talk of hyping his crowd. Hyping the crowd is a classic culture of the DJ spectacle, it's the perfect sync between the crowd, the event and the DJ; it puts the DJ in a position of a celebrity and makes him appear like he actually own the party. There is no two ways to assuming the spot of a top DJ without being a good hypes man and here lays a bane of an average Nigerian DJ.
In this paragraph I'll inconclusively sum up an average Nigerian freelance DJ. Disc Jockeying is all about three P's, and these P's are PERCEPTION, PERFECTION and your PLAYLIST. Your PERCEPTION has to do with your appearance which includes the dress sense, the persona and the moniker. The PERFECTION has to do with how seamless and spotless your mixes come to life, nobody in the crowd especially your client wants to hear that the two minute break-in-music was caused by a N100 cable or rather your drunkenness is the reason for your distractions, every song must be cued in spot-on. The PLAYLIST is a compendium of the latest and most intriguing songs that must keep your crowd asking for more, it must be up to date and must be well segmented but unfortunately an average Nigerian DJ gets these three P's absolutely wrong. In subsequent editions of DJ Bentley's JockeyTalk I'll extensively break down the three P's of Disc Jockeying and how it can be easily maximized.
Thanks for reading this piece, keep it real with the most-high and respect your DJ or spin it yourself.

Yabatech student abducts LASTMA Officer...
LASTMA spokesperson Bola Ajao in a statement confirming the incident to The Punch said, "On Wednesday afternoon, an unregistered Mazda bus with the inscription 'Yaba College of Technology Students' Union' was seen using the BRT lane around post office, Oyingbo. The vehicle had eight occupants including one Ademola Adesola, the union's leader."
"The students became unruly and refused to cooperate with the LASTMA officials headed by Mr. Kayode Odunuga. So, anti-robbery policemen attached to Denton Police Division immediately rushed to the scene."
"After the police intervened, the students then co-operated and the vehicle was taken down to LASTMA Zone 15 office at Iponri," Ajao stated. "On getting there, the students were made to sign an undertaking which must be typed on a Yabatech letter-head paper. Adesola said he did not have an original but a photocopy of a letter-head paper. Based on compassionate grounds, we accepted it and they were allowed to go."
"On Thursday, however, the students suddenly abducted a LASTMA official, Mr. Obasanmi Oladimeji, who was on duty at Jibowu area. The students then went down to Zone 15 office with two buses; one commercial bus and the red Mazda bus which they used on Wednesday. The students vandalised four impounded vehicles which were on the premises."
"When the students sighted policemen, they immediately took to their heels but luckily we caught one Joshua Toba, a 27-year-old man. Joshua claimed that he was not a student but an electrician who had been urged by the students to accompany them on a 'peace mission'."

Be inspired: 2 Nigerians aged 30 and 31 make the Forbes Young Millionaires list...
Two Nigerians, Ladi Delano and Jason Njoku, have made the recently released Forbes Magazine 'Ten Young African Millionaires To Watch' list.
Ladi, 30, is the founder and CEO of Bakrie Delano Africa, a $1bn investment vehicle; while Jason, 31, is the founder and CEO of Iroko TV.
These two Nigerians are among thousands of young and immensely successful entrepreneurs across the African continent. There's a growing number of Africans aged 40 and under who are legitimately amassing multi-million dollar fortunes.
According to Mfonobong Nsehe, a Forbes Magazine contributor who compiled the list, it consists of a handful of young Africans in their 20s and 30s who have built businesses and amassed enviable million-dollar fortunes.
Others on the Top 10 list include four young entrepreneurs from South Africa, two from Kenya, and one each from Uganda, and Senegal.
Ladi Delano the jet-setting Nigerian entrepreneur made his first millions as a liquor entrepreneur in China. He made a lot of profit from this venture and later sold the business to a rival liquor company for over $15mn.
He is presently the co-founder and CEO of Bakrie Delano Africa (BDA) – a $1bn joint venture with the $15bn (market cap) Bakrie Group of Indonesia. The Indonesian conglomerate has provided over $900m worth of funds to invest in Nigeria and Bakrie Delano Africa is responsible for identifying investment opportunities for the company in the country.
Jason Njoku, the Internet entrepreneur is the founder of Iroko TV, the world's largest digital distributor of African movies. Earlier this year, Iroko TV raised $8 million in venture capital from Tiger Global Management, a New York-based private equity and hedge fund run by billionaire Chase Coleman. Though Njoku is not willing to divulge his company's figures, analysts believe Iroko TV could be worth as much as $30m.

ML Reveal: Skinny jeans threaten manhood: study
British researchers warn that the garment - made popular by celebrities including Jude Law and Russell Brand - is responsible for the occurrence of health problems around the groin, The Daily Telegraph reports.
The skinny jean has been linked to inflictions including twisted testicles, bladder weakness, urinary tract infections, low sperm counts, and fungal irritations, the report said.
"I have seen several cases of men who have twisted their testicles due to wearing jeans that are far too tight," high-profile British GP Hilary Jones told the Telegraph.
"Wearing tight-fitting clothing over a prolonged period of time can lead to urinary tract infections leading to overactivity of the bladder."
A study of 2000 British men revealed that one in 10 experienced an unpleasant side effect of wearing skinny jeans. Half reported groin discomfort, more than a quarter had bladder troubles, and one in five suffered a twisted testicle.
The latter condition occurs when tight trousers prevent the spermatic cord from moving freely, meaning it twists and possibly cuts off blood, requiring immediate surgery.

Study Suggests Sitting Less Can Extend Life...
Humans were designed to move. But modern lifestyles and office jobs rarely prompt us to roam around. Quite the opposite, says Peter Katzmarzyk, an epidemiologist at the University of Louisiana.
"Sitting is ubiquitous in our lives today. You know, we sit while we're eating, we sit in the car, we sit while we watch TV. And many of sit for many hours at work. So on average, Americans report they sit between four and a half to five hour a day," Katzmarzyk said.
And, he says, those chair-centered days matter to our health, just like exercise.
"We can't throw away physical activity. It's extremely important. We have 60 years of research showing us that. But sedentary behavior is also important… Even if you exercise for 30 minutes a day. What goes on in the other 23 and a half hours a day is also very important," Katzmarzyk said.
Katzmarzyk and his colleagues are part of new generation of researchers trying to discover how sitting all day affects our lifespans.

Nigeria to spend $33.4m on family planning in 4 yrs - say's Jonathan (now I know my president is confused)
Jonathan, who was represented by the Minister of State for Health, Dr Mohammed Ali Pate, stated this at a family planning summit which took place in London, on Wednesday.
According to him, the new arrangement was aside current annual commitment of $3 million for the procurement of reproductive health commodities.
"We are committed to increasing the awareness and demand for family planning and reproductive health services by women regardless of their socio-economic status. In our quest to save one million lives in Nigeria by 2015, we consider all lives have equal value," he said
He added: "We are focused to save the lives of mothers and children from preventable causes and consider family planning a life-saving intervention. This effort is important for our country to reap its demographic dividend in the years to come."
He said the Federal Government of Nigeria remained fully committed to meeting unmet needs for reproductive health services and commodities, including family planning, saying this would be done in an integrated, collaborative manner.
